..to all that attended The Aberdare Carnival & Show on the weekend of 27th & 28th June 2009.
We hope you & your children enjoyed yourselves, it was a magnificent turnout to support our fundraising. Photo's will be available soon in our gallery so please help yourselves to downloads, & if you have some you would like displayed then send them in & we will be pleased to upload them, subject of course to the content.
The Second Annual Aberdare Show is on the 26th & 27th June so time to dust off your fancy dress and sign up for the new look parade . The theme for the parade is “Mardi Gras” with a special section for schools and clubs. Looking at big events like “Rio Mardi Gras” with lots of foot walkers doing moving tableaux. Each group can chose their own theme and have as many members as they need to give a good show. In past years the “Colstars and Ultimate Stage Company” have shown how a tableaux can promote the group so come on everyone and join the fun. The show has taken a blow with the loss of its main sponsor after our report in 2009. A local company offered £2500 in sponsorship; they have backed out and the show is now looking for a new sponsor. No main attractions can be booked without sponsorship. Mr Taylor said on behalf of Aberdare Show Co Ltd it was a sad day when I found out we had lost our sponsor without a backer. We have to tighten up our spending to keep the company viable. The planned “It’s a Knockout” has been put on hold without asking teams to pay £300 entry for the event. There is no way we can afford to do it. We have so much going on. The two days will be the largest show in the Cynon Valley.
The Jazz bands will be back with us on the Sunday and UK Falconry will be there as well. The dog show moves to Sunday so more people can bring their dogs. The dog show will be sponsored for the fourth year by K9 Cuts of Mountain Ash. This year the fun fair will be bigger and lots more to see. The event is free for children but this year we ask adults to buy a programme. £1 for entry for the two days - that’s just 50p each adult. We are also pleased to be associated with Cancer Research Wales (All money raised in Wales stays in Wales) who are our nominated charity this year along with support for Tenovus, WRVS, Cynon Valley Diabetic Group, RCT Guide dogs for the Blind and St Johns Ambulance. If you are a charity and would like a free stall area then please email Jeff@aberdare-show.co.uk requesting a pitch.
We are also looking for volunteers and you can offer support by emailing info@aberdare-show.co.uk. This is a community event and any community group can display what they do at the event. We are looking for any sort of club or association. Mr Taylor has informed the Cynon Valley Leader about the appointment of two new Directors, Mr G Smith (Entertainment & Company Secretary) and Mr S Tozer (Logistics and Communication). We have all worked together for five years on events and I am glad we are now a strong team. Mr Taylor is now Director of Development & Marketing
